The Wolfe Family
I love family sessions because I have the opportunity to capture glimpses of the special bonds that exist between each family member with the others. Don't get me wrong - I know that family sessions can be stressful... you spend all this time picking out your outfits (we want to match but we don't want to be "matchy-matchy"), doing your hair (it's drizzling out - are these curls even going to stay?!), doing your makeup (more lipstick or not enough?), doing your kids' hair (why does it feel like a WWE match?!), making sure everyone is happy before you leave (bribes, DUH), ensuring that you have a good enough bribe to offer afterwards (show Miss Kelsey your happy face or no happy meal afterwards!), and then you show up. And inevitably, someone has a meltdown. Or there was a poop explosion on the car ride there. Or dad's cranky about being in front of the camera. Or the kids aren't listening so all the tensions rise and suddenly mom and dad are arguing and "EVERYBODY SMILE! LOOK HAPPY! WE ARE A HAPPY FAMILY!"
I'm here to say... I get it. My kids are the absolute masters of running away when having their picture taken. I am the queen of stressing over our photoshoot outfits. We have a list of 10 possible bribery options, for when the first 9 fail. But I promise... it's okay! My goal is always to capture EMOTION. I promise not to have your family "Sit. Stay. Smile." Cause that usually looks weird and awkward anyway and besides, who can convince a 2-year-old that that's a good idea?! So I'll be there capturing the smiles, the tears, the running, jumping, chaos, and kisses... because ALL of it is a picture of parenthood and families at their finest.
I love my clients so much and am thankful that they trust me enough to capture these precious seasons. This particular family session was with our dear friends Bryan & Meghan, and their sweet boys. Their boys are the same ages (all October babies, whattt up?!) as J + K. That means a 4-year-old and 2-year-old. The chance for meltdowns at those ages is.... high! So we played some games and soaked up the warm sunshine on a chilly fall day. Mostly, I tried to stay out of the way as they goofed off and snuggled up as a family. The result: mostly laughs and giggles, with a few tears mixed in for good measure!
