Lauryn + Jesse | An Adventurous Engagement Session | Deer Creek State Park
Another FREEZING COLD session with a courageous couple that was willing to brave the cold, and smile while doing it.
Whenever a couple inquires about a wedding, I recommend that we FaceTime or meet in person first. This gives them a chance to know me, and vise versa, so that we can all be sure it’s a good fit before they’re stuck with me for months! Well… I usually hold fast to that rule, for the sake of everyone involved…BUT Lauryn + Jesse were ready to book ASAP, before we even had a chance to chat. I made an exception because we had enough mutual friends (real-life mutual friends, not FB ;) ) and they had scoured my work enough that we both felt confident. (Side note…. Their relationship also budded at a YL camp, which is where Derek and I first met)!
Well, I was even more convinced when I suggested a state park for their session that none of us had ever been to before and they replied with a resounding YES! They are adventurous to the core, and if you know my barefoot, tree-hugging self, you know that’s my vibe! Sadly, it was WAY too cold to be barefoot for their session, but we still managed to capture all the outdoor feels. We started in the tall pines, frolicked through some fields, and ended up down by the (mostly frozen) lake!
I love asking couples about their relationship, their jobs, their passions, etc, during our session…. But these two could not stop talking about the incredible community that they are surrounded with in Cincinnati (friends and family both). It got me so excited for their summertime wedding - can’t wait to meet their people and celebrate together!
Enjoy these shots of Jesse + Lauryn in one of my new favorite places!
